What Is Polygon?
Polygon (formerly Matic Network) is a user-friendly platform designed to scale Ethereum and support infrastructure development. It aims to be Ethereum’s leading Layer 2 aggregator by offering a modular and flexible scaling framework.
In September 2024, Polygon upgraded its native token from MATIC to POL. Beyond being used for gas fees and staking, POL plays a key role in supporting Polygon’s AggLayer vision — enabling secure and scalable future network growth.
Today, major projects across DeFi, prediction markets, and real-world assets (RWA) — including AAVE, Polymarket, Quickswap, Uniswap, and Compound — are actively deployed on Polygon.
Creating a Polygon account
To create a Polygon account, navigate to "My Profile" -> "Manage wallets" -> "Add", select the Polygon network, and confirm. Then, return to the wallet homepage to access your newly created Polygon account.
Receiving and Transferring Tokens
You can click “Transfer” or “Receive” on the wallet page to perform corresponding operations.
Receiving Tokens
Click “Receive” and share your QR code with or send the wallet address to the other party to receive tokens.
Transferring Tokens
Click “Transfer”, select the token to be transferred and enter the recipient's address and amount.
Note: please make sure you have sufficient POL in your wallet to pay Gas fee before transferring.
There are two ways to deposit tokens into your Polygon account:
Method 1: Withdrawing tokens from an exchange to your imToken Polygon account.
Take OKX as an example. If you want to transfer tokens from OKX to imToken via the Polygon network, follow these steps:
1. Open your imToken Polygon account and tap the wallet address to copy it.
2. Log in to OKX. Tap "Assets" - "Withdraw". Search for the token you want to withdraw, like POL. Select "Polygon" as the withdrawal network. Paste the copied wallet address, enter the withdrawal amount, and tap "Submit" to proceed.
Method 2: Using bridge to transfer tokens from an ETH or other account to your Polygon account.
1. Switch to your Polygon account. On the homepage function bar, swipe left and tap "Bridge". Alternatively, on the homepage token list, tap a token like USDT, find the "Token Function" button in the lower left corner, enter the "Select Function" page, and choose "Bridge".
2. For example, using Orbiter to bridge USDT from Ethereum to Polygon: Ensure you have enough USDT in your ETH account and a small amount of ETH to pay the gas fee on Ethereum.
3. After entering the Orbiter DApp, tap "Confirm" to connect your wallet. Select the token you want to bridge, along with the sending and receiving networks. Tap "Bridge" to automatically switch to your ETH account. Then tap "Bridge" again and sign to send the transaction. After the transaction is confirmed, switch back to your Polygon account to see the received USDT.
Experiencing DApps in the Polygon Ecosystem
Tap “DApp” on the account page to visit various DApps in the Polygon ecosystem.
